Our Simple Tips For Visiting Ba Na Hills & The Golden Bridge!
Our Simple Tips For Visiting
Ba Na Hills & The Golden Bridge!

Bà Nà Hills was a French hill station built around 1919. Located high in the mountains west of Da Nang city the station went into general disuse after 1945. In its place, Sunworld Ba Na Hills is THE tourist attraction for many visitors to Vietnam. Reached by a world record holding cable car system, Ba Na Hills is famous for its ‘Golden Bridge‘, opened in 2018.

We have offered successful private tours to Ba Na Hills for some time and can’t emphasise enough how busy the resort can be. Problems arise from its enormous popularity, more so during Vietnam’s holiday periods and at weekends.

For instance, the overcrowded cable car station in the morning with its long queues is to be missed, and our guests should avoid weekend visits if possible.

The problem is due to the exponential rise in domestic & international tourism into Da Nang since Ba Na Hills opened 10 years ago. Plus the worldwide fame of its Golden ‘Hand’ Bridge.

Our coastal city of Da Nang is expected to welcome over 8 million visitors in 2019, up from 7.66 million last year. Its thought 2 out of 3 visitors will want to visit Ba Na Hills and Golden Bridge.

Our tips when touring Ba Na Hills with us:

  • For a family visit: We make an early start to arrive at the ground level cable car station before 07.30. Essential to avoid long queues that build-up with the arrival of the large group tours. Finish your day mid-afternoon means you miss the homewards rush too. This is important advice for families travelling with elders and young children

  • For couples and adult groups: generally, half-day is enough and we recommend arriving at the lower cable car station around 14.30. The queues have subsided and the weather is cooling when you arrive in the resort. With the return cable car finishing at 21.00 you should get a wonderful early evening view of Da Nang city lights. Usually, we include a morning of Da Nang 'highlights with lunch before the short drive to Ba Na.

  • Golden 'Hand' Bridge: The attraction everyone is talking about! But remember the bridge is not a 'stand-alone' attraction. You must buy the complete Ba Na Hills resort ticket and take its cable car to view and photograph the bridge.

Pretty Hoi An – A 'Top 10' Most Romantic City!

CNN Travel recently ranked Hoi An amongst favourites likes Paris, the Maldives, Hawaii and Kimberley Beach Australia, as an ideal place for couples to visit. Where landscape and architecture is timeless, the views rightly famous – and romance guaranteed!

CNN Travel said:

“The central Vietnamese coastal town of Hoi An may have rocketed in popularity in recent years, but even increased

visitor numbers can’t detract from the undeniably quaint and romantic feel of this former trading port.

The old town is a warren of ancient temples, houses and stores built around a number of canals. Gently humped pedestrian bridges let you wander hand in hand, with hundreds of multicoloured lanterns above you swaying in the coastal breezes. Paper lanterns of another kind can also be lit and sent soaring skyward, along with a special message written with your valentine”

Hoi An – The Best City In The World 2019!
Hoi An – The Best City
In The World 2019!

This year, the title of Best City in the World belongs to……… Hoi An, Vietnam.

This charmer of a city leapt from its No. 8 position last year to the top of our list. What draws readers to what one called “a little gem of a place”?

For some, it’s the shopping: “You can have anything made to order?. For others, it’s the food. “The best in Vietnam, with amazing vegetarian and vegan options” wrote one fan. It doesn’t hurt that Hoi An is so accessible either. “It’s great that the inner part of the city is restricted and cars aren’t allowed, so one can walk down the centre of the street to the shops and markets” explained one reader. “The city has a nice atmosphere, being right on a river”

Located in central Vietnam on the coast of the Eastern Sea, Hoi An is a charming city with ancient roots, distinct architecture, sparkling colourful lanterns and arguably one of the most incredible food scenes on the planet.

Most importantly, Hoi An is home to friendly people who are eager to share the best their city has to offer.

Central Vietnam – A Lonely Planet Top 10 Destination For 2019!

Joining Fiji, Cook Islands, Margaret River WA and Singapore, central Vietnam is one of Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Asia-Pacific’ for 2019!

Lonely Planet said:

“Bookended by the kinetic energy of Ho Chi Min City and the (slightly) more relaxed historic ambience of Hanoi, central Vietnam is one of the country’s most diverse regions.

Hue’s vibrant cuisine showcases the city’s imperial legacy, while south in Hoi An’s storied laneways, local dishes include fragrant cao lầu noodles.

Seafood stars in nearby Da Nang and the city alongside the Han River is becoming one of Vietnam’s most exciting urban destinations. Its international air links with many Asian cities provide easy access to attractions like the Golden Bridge at nearby Ba Na Hills”
